The Sequence of Creation

1. Brahman is pure, unmoving, eternal untainted Essence without any blemish. Like the sky, it is clear pure vast empty space.
2. It does not do anything and it does not hold or retain anything. It has no birth, no death, no knowing, and no not knowing. It is beyond the void that is nothingness (sunyata).
3. It does not get created nor destroyed. It does not come into being nor does it disappear. It is beyond Illusion, free of any ignorance or imperfection, and it is limitless.
4. In that Brahman there arose an inspiration or desire that is called God with six qualities (Knowledge, Omnipresence, Energy, Power, Life, and Brilliance), and is also called God that is the half male and half female principles.
5. It is called the God of all, the knower of all, the witness, the seer, the fullness of Knowledge, God which is beyond everything, the Supreme Self, the Life-Energy of the universe, and the primal Beingness.
6. That Primal Illusion is richly endowed with many attributes and faces downward producing an arousal or stirring of the gunas. The three gunas (rajas, tamas, sattva) have been created from this excitation in the Primal Illusion.
7. Later, Lord Vishnu who is the of the nature of Knowledge (Consciousness) and the sattva guna, and who protects and sustains the three worlds, was created.
8. Understand that afterwards came Lord Brahma, who is the combination of knowledge and ignorance. It is from rajas guna that the three worlds were created.
9. Later, came Lord Shiva who is of the nature of ignorance (tamas) and is the reason for the destruction of everything. The doing of all of this activity (creation, preservation, and destruction) has come from the Primal Illusion itself.
10. Afterwards, from there, the forms of the five elements appeared. Like this, the eightfold visible manifestation emerged from the Primal Illusion.
11. When movement occurred in the unmoving, that itself is the description of the wind (vayu). The five elements and the three gunas in their most subtle form is called the eight-fold creation.
12. Space (sky) means the Inner-Self. Its greatness must be seen with direct experience. From that space, wind has come into being.
13. Listen now to how that wind flows in two streams, one is hot and one is cool. From the cool stream of wind the moon and stars came into being.
14. From the hot stream of wind came fire, the sun, lightening, and more. Understand that the hot and cool wind intermingled together are the form of light.
15. From that light came water. When water became condensed and solidified, earth was formed. Later, innumerable plants and trees came into being.
16. From the plants came many medicinal juices, many seeds, many juices for drinking, and the 8.4 million species of living beings that came into existence on the earth.
17. In this way, the universe was created. One must investigate this and deeply think about it for oneself in the mind. Without actual experience one is left to depend upon guesswork and speculation.
18. The creation and destruction of the universe takes place like this. This is called the inquiry into the Eternal and the ephemeral.
19. In the same way that everything has come into being one thing from another, everything will disappear and return in the same way. In this way, everything gets destroyed at the time of the final dissolution.
20. The wise people give thoughtful consideration to That which is pristine and eternally existing at the beginning, throughout the duration, and after the end of everything.
21. Many forms come into being and yet none of them is permanently sustained. For this reason, there must be some investigation into what is Eternal and what is ephemeral.
22. Everywhere people talk of the greatness of the seer that is the witness or Inner-Self. However, one must with see with one's own actual experience what this all-seeing state actually is.
23. From the beginning up to the end, everything is completely only Illusion, and all of the many streams of knowledge, arts, and skills are contained within it.
24. One who gives up all attachments will arrive at the ultimate realization and understand that all is Illusion. For the one who is completely entangled in attachments, who can rescue him?
25. How can That which can only be directly experienced through the power of discrimination ever be understood through delusional guesswork and speculation? It is only through the investigation into the Eternal and ephemeral that clearly reveals Illusion that one can attain the realization of Brahman.
26. Understand that the "Great Causal Body" of the universe is the Primal Illusion. Those who say that the incomplete is the complete Brahman do not properly utilize the power of discrimination.
27. There are many people in this creation. Some enjoy the king’s throne, and some are fascinated with the expanse of Illusion. Understand this and have the direct experience right now.
28. There are many people who consider themselves great. However, it is only those who use the power of discrimination that truly understand the nature of everything.
29. Like this is the position of those who inquire into Reality. Therefore, inquiry and deep thought is required. Do not become spoiled and get carried away by the speech of worldly people.
30. Do not merely hold on to the confirmations of knowledge contained in books. What then would be the purpose of finding a Sadguru? One must gain understanding by means of one’s own direct experience.
31. Understand that the one who gets swept away with the opinions of many people surely gets deceived. When there is not only one boss but many, who does one ask for payment?
