Explanation of Creation

1. Brahman is dense and empty at the same time. It is more expansive than space. It is pure and unmoving without any modification.
2. Brahman remained like this for a long time, then the creation of the world arose. Listen with alertness to the root of the world.
3. In the unmoving Parabrahman there arose a desire which is of the nature of movement. That alone is what is called the "Primal God" (Adinarayana).
4. The "Lord of the Universe" (Jagadishwara) is the Primal Illusion (Moolamaya) itself. He is also called "God with Six Qualities." Investigate thoughtfully and see that this is the eightfold creation.
5. After that, there arises the turbulence of the subtle gunas (gunakshobini), and from that the three gunas (rajas, tamas, sattva) took tangible form. Understand that AUM (OM) also originates from there.
6. The three sounds A, U, and M together form the AUM, and from there the expanse of the five elements has spread out everywhere.
7. The Inner-Self is called space, and in it, arose the wind. From the wind, light was created.
8. From the friction of the streams of wind, the heat of light (fire) created the sun.
9. From the coolness of the streams of wind, water was created. When that water became condensed and solid, earth was created.
10. Contained within the earth are an endless number of seeds, and when earth and water came together many sprouts were germinated.
11. On the earth there are many vines with leaves and flowers of many colors, and from them came the various fruits with many different flavors and smells.
12. From these leaves, flowers, fruits, and roots of many colors, tastes and flavors, came many juices and grains and various types of food.
13. From this food, semen was created, and from semen living beings were created. This is the observable experience of creation.
14. The four streams of species of living beings are born from eggs, the womb, a combination of heat and moisture, and seeds, but all have their origin in water and earth. This is the wondrous play of creation.
15. In this creation there are the four categories of living beings, the four types of speech, the 8.4 million species, the three worlds, the individual body, and the universal body.
16. The visible creation is the eightfold manifestation (three gunas and five elements), and all living beings are born from water. If there is no water, all living beings will die.
17. This talk is not based on imagination. One can gain the actual experience of this. Moreover, this is supported by statements in the Vedas, ancient scriptures (Shastras), and mythological books (Puranas). Gain the experience of this for yourself.
18. That which cannot be verified in one’s own experience is merely speculation and guesswork, and should not be accepted. Without verification in actual experience, people do not function properly in life.
19. Whether one is on the path of activity, or the path of withdrawal from activity in life, there must be actual experience. Without experience, there is a lack proper discrimination and one is left only with guesswork and imagination.
20. Like this, the investigation into the functioning of the visible world is told in short. Now, listen to the process of the destruction of the visible expanse of creation.
21. From the beginning until the end, it is only the Self, Lord Rama, that does everything. It is also He who gives the correct explanations.
22. In the next sub-chapter the destruction is explained. The listeners are asked to listen attentively. This sub-chapter is completed here.
